When I first saw this object on a shelf in the charity shop, I wasnt sure what it was.
I thought perhaps it was a crocus bulb set in resin ( I have a dandelion seedhead set in a globe of resin, bought in the Kew Gardens Shop).
When I picked it up and examined it further, I wasted no time in purchasing it for my collection of Quite Interesting Things.
I like it because it reminds me of the enormous optimism this generated, optimism which seems to have been lost.
It contains a 2cc drop of North Sea Oil, "Britain's Most Precious Liquid"
It is dated 1976
I got it for 50p!
