Honorificabilitudinitatibus(27 letters) This word means 'with honour-ablenesses' and is in Shakespeare's play Love's Labours Lost.


Antidisestablishmentarianism (28 letters) Gladstone is reputed to have used this word. It means a 'doctrine of opposition to disestablishment(withdrawal of state patronage). Myself,I am a disestablishmentarianist, as I support a unified church.


Floccipaucinihilipilification (29 letters) This,the longest word listed in the Oxford English Dictionary, means 'the action of estimating as worthless.' First recorded in 1741,and used by Sir Walter Scott.


Praetertranssubstantiationalistically(37 letters) This was used in the novel Untimely Ripped by Mark McShane,published in 1963. It means the act of surpassing the act of transubstantiation, specifically referring to the transformation of bread and wine into the blood and body of Christ during mass,according to the Roman Catholic faith. (In so many ways, something I do not understand).
